Who is Ravsitar?
Simply put, I’m “that” geeky guy. Nothing special to see here.
I’m originally from a small town in Southwest Iowa. Went to college and got an Engineering Degree from Iowa State University. Moved to the Minneapolis, MN area to work in an engineering firm doing power generation and HVAC design work.
I never had a camera as a kid but I enjoyed using them when I got the chance. I bought a digital camera (Nikon 4500) with the last bit of my college loan money and used if for several years. Late in 2004, I started getting more into photography and by the summer of 2005, I decided that I’d pushed the point and shoot camera as far as possible. So I bought a Nikon D70 DSLR and a few lenses. Shortly after that I found the Tips from the Top Floor podcast and was hooked on photography. A few months on the forums there and I was asked to help with the show and thus became the Release Pixie. Now I work for Chris at Tips from the Top Floor releasing shows and moderating the forums.
I’m a hobbyist photographer who’s always trying to improve. I have no ambition of going pro. But I wouldn’t mind making a little money with my photography to offset the cost of the gear.
Speaking of gear, you can see what kind of equipment I take photos with on my Gear Page.
